JOHN EARL ROBINSON is a consummate entertainer. He has performed throughout central Iowa and beyond for the past ten plus years and is one of the area’s most recognizable actors. He is an ensemble player with Repertory Theater of Iowa as well as the Director of Marketing and webmaster.

John was a Broadcast major at Drake University and later turned his knack for entertaining others into a string of shows at the Des Moines Playhouse beginning in 1998. In 2002, he was named Best Local Theater Talent by the readers of Cityview. He has twice been nominated for Best Actor by the Iowa Motion Picture Association and in 2007 won the title for his short film, Money Trouble. He performed regularly as an actor for the Science Center of Iowa for several years and, in 2005, was one of the first to perform in the newly built John Deere Adventure Theater. He’s been in numerous original productions and in 2003 performed in the World Premiere of Andrew & The Mystic Trumpeter with the Des Moines Symphony.

From 2003 to 2005, he co-produced and performed the central Iowa premiere of David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries, a one-man show adapted for the stage which broke box office records for the The Vaudeville Mews. His most recent roles include Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol, Frank Lubey in RTI’s production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, and Captain Mike in Wonder of the World. Other recent roles have included Representative Benjamin Goldman in the nationally-acclaimed political satire Caucus! The Musical (Right Brain Productions), and Dave Bukatinsky in The Full Monty (Des Moines Playhouse). His film work includes the independent feature film Haunting Villisca, and the 2010 Summer Release, Smitty, starring Peter Fonda and Mira Sorvino.
